How to Style Hair During Awkward Stage

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

So you are growing your hair out from a pixie cut or from a traditional buzzer, clipper or short haircut. Here are some tips on how to make the awkward stages, a lot less awkward.

  • Headbands, hats and hair accessories would be the obvious choice. Throw them in or on your head to cover, tame or jazz up your existing hair.

  • Hair extensions or a wig are a good choice if you want to skip the awkward stage completely.

  • Temporary colors like Mysteek Naturals are a great option to change it up, day by day and save you from hair boredom that makes most of us want to cut it all off or get some bangs.

While all of these choices are great, easy and have very little commitment, you might be

looking for something more YOU, and that's where we come in. Investing in the right hair styling products will make your transition from short to long to even longer, a breeze.

Check out this video using ROXDOLL Cosmetics Styling Mousse, our Hair, Scalp and Body Butter, R+CO Outerspace hairspray, a blow dryer and a Denman brush. Styling your hair can make a huge difference in how you feel, you might even realize how much you love the grow-out phase.

Struggling to get your hair to grow past a certain length?

  • Don't forget to get regular trims to clean up the hair line, around the ears and to trim off any dead ends. Hair grows from the scalp but breaks off from the ends up the hair shaft. The only way to have a healthy hair growth is to trim off those dead ends.

  • Try to go longer in between washes, we recommend washing your hair 1-2 times a week and invest in a good dry shampoo for those in between wash days, our favorite is R+CO Death Valley Dry Shampoo.

  • For an extra boost of nutrition to help your hair grow past the awkward stage, we also recommend adding our Biotin Hair Growth Oil into your weekly routine. Our Biotin Hair Growth Oil is a treatment for your scalp through your ends. Once applied, allow it sit for at least 30 minutes up to 24 hours then wash it out with our Clarifying Shampoo, then conditioner with favorite ROXDOLL Conditioner!
