Overview on How To Use Shampoo and Conditioner:
When shampooing, do not shampoo using your fingernails but rather your fingertips. The goal is to work the shampoo into the scalp offering a gentle but strong massage, to circulate blood flow and stir up any residue, dirt, oil, grease, dandruff, product build-up, etc. We cannot stress enough, that we do not want open wounds on the scalp, so do not use your fingernails. Use your fingertips and allow hair washing to be an enjoyable experience as it should be.

If you have very thick hair, your should part your hair in sections to make sure you are thoroughly cleaning and rinsing in each section. Shampoo and conditioner getting trapped in hair and not fully being rinsed out is a common cause of hair not feeling fully clean. Here are some more reasons your hair might always feel greasy, even after shampooing, and some Pro Tips on how to fix it!
Since all of our shampoos are sulfate-free, there is a definite trick to get them to lather more and we covered that in a previous Pro Tip. In an effort to not be repetitive, be sure to check out that Pro Tip if you are struggling to get your sulfate-free shampoo to lather.
Shampoo is meant for your scalp. There is no need to use shampoo on the shaft or ends of your hair. Simply let the shampoo run through to the ends of your hair when you are rinsing out the shampoo. This will allow your hair to keep some of its natural oils, throughout the hair shaft, which is really healthy for your hair. Again, if your hair is very thick, sectioning the hair will allow for a more thorough rinse and removal of shampoo.

Shampooing less often is better for your hair and scalp. As previously mentioned, natural oils in your hair are good. You want to keep a healthy balance of natural oils. When you over shampoo, you will continually strip your hair of its natural oils. This will cause your scalp to overproduce oils, to replace the oils removed from shampooing. Shampoo once to three times a week at maximum. Friendly reminder: It takes about four weeks for your scalp to balance out and "get used to" a new shampoo schedule. Give yourself time to get adjusted before you throw in the towel!
When it comes to conditioner, there is a common misconception that conditioner is bad and leads to flat, oily hair. If you feel this way, be sure to check out our Pro Tip on why conditioner is weighing down your hair. When you find the best conditioner for your unique needs, that conditioner should be applied from roots to ends, we even recommend massaging the conditioner into your scalp too!
Step by Step How To Use Shampoo and Conditioner:
On wash days, saturate hair, then apply the best ROXDOLL shampoo your hair and scalp needs, and massage it into your scalp using your fingertips. Add more water as needed for a greater lather. Rinse and repeat up to 3 times. Rinse and apply the best ROXDOLL Conditioner for your unique hair and scalp. Starting from the ends of your hair and working your way up the hair shaft to your scalp, don't be afraid to massage the conditioner into your scalp. Allow the conditioner to sit in your hair and on your scalp for the duration of your shower. You can apply a shower cap for deeper hydration.

As the very last thing, before leaving the shower, we recommend rinsing out your conditioner with cool water. The colder the water, the better for your hair. Cold water closes down the cuticle and makes the hair shaft smoother and helps seal in moisture. It also closes the pores on your scalp which helps control the overproduction of oil, preventing oily hair.
